I want to hear from ecologists commenting on how novel plants can only invade degraded or recovering ecosystems.
Where was the last time you saw an exotic plant inside a healthy area of mature native bush? Was it by the path? This is because of a problem called islandisation, where paths, roads and other gaps created in the bush cover create edge habitats ideal for colonising exotics.
