I wasted too much time fighting with Gitlab's CI, which is absolute garbage for publishing pipelines and just ended up polluting my git history. ... I stood up my own Sonotype nexus server because their package repo is just that terrible. I think tests/publishing is much easier done locally with some shell scripts.
