So, I had this crazy notion stuck in my head all weekend about a "better" way for #FictionPodcast discovery.
Personally, I'm not a fan of listing shows by genre or category. I find them too restrictive (like, is the scifi romcom more scifi or romcom?). That, and one person's "scifi" might be another person's "horror." Many people are doing an admirable job of classifying shows, and I applaud them for their efforts. My critique stands.
However, it's pretty obvious that some shows are thematically similar to others. And quite often hose "themes" transcend genre/cateogories.
Take The Magnus Archives as an example. I can think of many shows that are thematically similar to TMA, and I'm sure all of you (at least those of you familair with TMA) can as well.
To get this idea out of my head and either into practice or in the rubbish bin, I put together a dead-simple form: https://forms.gle/VvA6yggCiMUvM24x5
... to possibly "crowd source" this idea, letting listeners (and, sure, creators, because creators are often listeners) come up with their own themes and associations.
I shared this on an #AudioDrama Discord server and got some interesting results. So I'm sharing a little wider to see what else happens. I'll share the results in a few days.
Boosts appreciated! #podcasting #li (cc npub1danhemklkfdtm6qcazj89suhqse9d3j0nx8pn4w4aa5zh3klfufsrwasp3 (npub1dan…asp3))
