Yesterday I learned that Eat-My-Shorts-FS aka BartFS aka BTRFS is VERY resilient. I wrote some stuff to external drive, unmounted and apparently disconnected before everything was written. It was about 1.2 GB, few thousand files - not just new files, but overwriting old ones, too.
I don't know how BTRFS does it, but when I re-mounted the drive it seemed as if the entire writing operation never happened. Everything was as before. .... how???
