npub19fcv2nflra09c6p9xz8c8detwj6uy07u4z4m25qh836mnvxtatdq6aay3c (npub19fc…ay3c) I've listened to a few podcasts about Hamas, one from Tareq Baconi and one a social scientist Jeroen whatshisname - can look it up, was very interesting - who both spoke with members and former members. IIRC Jeroen said that membership of these groups is usually via family/friends. I can imagine that such a group is incredibly vulnerable to Israeli infiltration, and that might be a reason that we don't hear about foreign fighters joining them. Probably said this is a very wrong way yesterday, I tried to be short.
Another difference between the volunteers going to Ukraine might be that Ukraine is a friendly government and Hamas is designated a terrorist organisation by our governments. Being open about joining them will have all kind of implications that fighting for the IOF or Ukraine hasn't. Not that I agree, IMO war crimes are war crimes.
