Which kernel version are you running? If it's 4.8 or newer, it's ChaCha20.
If it's 5.6 or newer, /dev/random no longer blocks.
If it's 5.19 or newer, the entropy pool is hashed with SipHash and ChaCah20 is using fast key erasure, with a lot of performance improvements.
The kernel developers rejected my patch to replace ChaCha20 with ChaCha8, providing a 2.5x speedup. Bastards. :)
