IMO good strategy. Capital cost should be calculated per time (like interest for example), and not per tx fee saved.

I would not close channels that have most of the liquidity ok the other side though. Those aren't very valuable to you.

And possibly good idea to do these cleanups only when the fees are as low as they are right now.
