Still thinking about that one graph I made about fanfiction.net at the start of college, where I scraped any and all stories, and was able to know how many new stories existed per year, and seeing a surprising/interesting decay right after 2012, where the rate of new stories per year started declining pretty steeply

Edit: most of the people who left ffnet went to ao3, I got some growth numbers from that site as well, which seems to confirm most were site-hopping around this time

Only a few fandoms really stayed there, and nearly all new media made after 2012 had a bigger fanfiction presence outside ffnet than on it
