Meat and other animal products are optimal. Everything else is non-optimal. I can eat non-optimal food, but why should I? Personal enjoyment? Social grace? I do eat some other things for those reasons. Maybe there are certain situations where briefly using sugars for quick energy make sense, like doing some brief physical activity. This is where I would see fruits as a decent suggestion.
Coffee and tea are an addiction, not food. I drink a lot of coffee, but I know it is because I am addicted to caffeine. I'm choosing to accept the risks associated with that addiction at this point, but that may change in the future.
Wheat is not food for humans. Neither is soy.
Quantity is interesting. I think a good idea is to be inconsistent. I'm not necessarily advocating for intermittent fasting, but it doesn't hurt to go for a day or more without eating. And don't always eat the same amount, or at the same time. I think having some amount of meat, preferably during the daytime, most days, is the way to go. I tend to eat a lot less on weekends. Last weekend I didn't have a meal between 4p Friday and about 5p Sunday, because I was busy doing other things. I wasn't overly hungry, though, and I had eaten slightly more on Friday than usual. I wasn't trying to fast either, it was just by circumstance.
