Bit of a first world problem rant.
Ahem. My daughter needs a medical check-up with a specialist. There's a specialist in Nearest City. Unfortunately, Nearest City is in a different province. The only ground connection between my home and the rest of my province is a mountain pass that is, quite frankly, terrifying in the winter. TPTB have decided that she can't see specialist in Nearest City because it is in another province, and, instead, must go to one in the same province, which means I have to drive further, in more dangerous conditions, to get her there.
So, what would have been a fairly easy three hour drive just turned into a four hour odyssey with cliffs and ice and logging trucks and no cell service. Because bureaucracy > geography.
Yes, yes, yes, I know. If I want services, I should move to the Lower Mainland.
