I should have been more clear about my ranting, because having people explain to me that those cookies are tracking me makes me feel first hand what women say about mansplaining.

Thanks everyone, I know they are tracking me. That's not my point. My point is: in prehistoric times, those same cookies could be used to store useful usability items, like chosen language, logged-in status, those kind of things. Clearly, this is not the case anymore.
