Also Israel has been assassinating Iran's nuclear scientists for decades, especially since Trump killed the Iran nuclear deal. I suspect that the superpowers involved in this have perhaps more to gain than lose from an escalation of localized conflict. Israelis and Palestinians are just pawns in their game.
