A small sample of observations about layer 1, about Dapps.

Because Ethereum was the first smart contract public chain, for various reasons, more and more developers are building Dapps on it, but it seems that only in the last 3 years, DeFi, NFT and so on have exploded. All I can say is that these Dapps are slowly emerging because of the soil. These soils include: various tools, tutorials, forums, contests, science popularization, ideological polishing, etc. Of course, it is also important for founders to have foresight and constantly provide new and forward-looking views, which is also a part of the soil. I don't think anyone would have said when Ethereum came out that DeFi would be one of the major apps on it, or that it would be financial Lego.

When knowing the current status of ethereum, there are new public chains want to copy the success of Ethereum, follow the example, so that they have better soil, is the practice of many teams, and then constantly say that their tools perfect, high prize...... Trying to attract developers, trying to get more C-ends to work, getting stuck in a chicken-and-egg cycle.
This is like deliberate design, always feel less than the years of Ethereum accumulation and slowly "emerge". Of course, some can still grow trees, and alternative environments like solana have a few trees.

But there's also layer 1, a specific type of chain that doesn't try to create large, all-encompassing soil. Instead, they start with the idea of planting a few specific trees, rather than flowers.
For example, SeiNetwork started from trading, doing small and deep, not big and complete;
Canto, for example, comes with DEX, lending, stablecoin, and then spreads out to do other things;
osmosis, for example, does cosmos Ecology's DEX, which cannot even deploy Dapps at will;

Of course, the soil is important, and good Dapps may emerge, which is the advantage of Ethereum. This requires careful cultivation and a long life and death wait. In the pursuit of efficiency, how many capital are willing to wait? Unless you have a lot of capital and a lot of vision.

From the point of view of emergence, once it's done, it's a great layer 1, a forest; It depends too much on the weather, the right place and the right people.
From a "productivity" point of view, start with a specific class of features and maybe grow a few trees.
