I make it a one-time donation of $120 rather than monthly donations of $10 because that works for me. That amount feels like a good representation of the value for me, and I can handle it. Others might not be in a position to do that, which is completely fine. I believe in the promise of the Fediverse in general and this instance of Mastodon in particular, which is why I support it.
