Personal good news: My worsening near-vision eyesight is no cause for alarm. (I was worried about a potential aneurysm.) It's just the cataract in my left eye finally getting bad enough to be a real bother.

So tomorrow I'll schedule cataract surgery. I had the right eye done years ago, so I know what this is like — not bad at all.

And what a relief to walk into a medical facility where everyone, staff and patients, is masked. Thank you Santa Clara County for the mask mandate running Nov. 1 through March 31.
