npub1nf4yrpa9jvc7ncvk99xu704mpuyeguj40pjlk5dvv5tvc33rpk3swdz0nt (npub1nf4…z0nt) I'm no scientist, but I have trouble wrapping my head around the notion of a single lethal does for all humans irrespective of size and genetic variations etc...
Is this list telling me that two people, one of whom is literally twice the mass of the other require the same number of milligrams to reach a lethal dose?
Not sure I believe this. I have to assume this is based on averages of humans, not humans. I have to assume this is effectively false when you take it out of the realm of averages.
We had a massive financial crash which was linked to abstracted financial instruments which claimed that you could take averages of calculated risk and it absolutely blew up in our faces.
For whatever reason, the life sciences seem to think we are all some average when really I think most people will not be the average.
It seems reasonable to say like "the average testosterone level X, so X+Y or X-Y is a "healthy range" but it's absurd to say "the average height is 5'5 so we recommend a healthy height between 5'2 and 5'8" and I'm not sure I understand the fundamental difference between these two claims.
