There's a company that's developed a re-engineered bacteria in that resides in the mouth. Based on one they found in the wild, instead of producing acids that cause cavities it produces tiny tiny amounts of alcohol (dozens of orders of magnitude below measurable on dui tests). It also produces a mild anti-bacterial that allows it to establish and remain the dominant microbe of the cavity problem ones.
Were originally going for full FDA medical approval but those required insane levels of testing so, since it actual is a probiotic, they are going that route now which is less onerous. Believe testing is next year and they are looking at 2026 ish.
