I just spent my lunch break installing #freebsd 14.1 on an old Toshiba Satellite L505. This 15 year old budget-grade laptop weighs similar to a tank and sports 3GB of RAM, a dual core #intel Centrino #cpu, a "lightning fast" 10/100 NIC, and a state of the art 5,400 RPM hard drive.
FreeBSD is such a *cool* operating system and I'm really enjoying using it on the side. As much as I enjoy tinkering with #old #Tech, I have forgotten how excruciatingly slow 5,400RPM is.
The fact that a #RaspberryPi is faster than this laptop is pretty hilarious.
