Articulated an idea I've been turning over for a while: it is impossible in most settings to make an informational move without also making a social move.
This probably seems obvious to many people, but when I am puzzling over how a system works and asking questions, I am not thinking about the social implications of who and how and where I ask. They nevertheless always exist, and it's kind of interesting to think about how many times that's caused me trouble.
