In a small strip of sometimes just 30+ kilometres between Baltic Sea and North Sea there are three distinct soil formations left by the glaciers.
Fertile, flat marshes in the west, fertile hills with clay soil in the east and not very fertile sand areas in between.
When we bought our house, we were glad to move from the sand in the middle to the hills in the east.
Turned out though, that the most western parts of the hills are still covered by sandy soil. Well... 🙂
