when I think of these people wasting away I first have a somewhat misanthropic idea that community/society is precisely that cause of this, but then I also can't disagree with the lack of community, which sounds like a contradiction which there probably isn't really but it's not obvious how this works. Probably because society doesn't imply community, or anything at all for that matter, and being surrounded by people is perfectly compatible with loneliness
