Tried to pay the groceries with Lightning⚡️at Pick n Pay in South Africa 🇿🇦. Unfortunately the staff was clueless about Bitcoin/Lightning and after some chat with the store manager searching her emails for instructions, I gave up when the instructions said “Install the Crypto QR app”.
However after some research I found out that the current card terminal displays don’t have a high enough resolution to display Lightning ⚡️invoices and the “crypto” QR app is (currently at least) a Lightning-only app, that reads the card terminal QR code and generates a Lightning ⚡️ invoice you can pay with any Lightning ⚡️ wallet. Yeah, the name “Crypto QR” is a bit unfortunate and the process is not ideal yet, but we’re slowly getting there. One step after another until Hyperbitcoinization! #plebchain 🤙
