Here's something a litlle different for today's #ThickTrunkTuesday post. These are the aerial roots of a mangrove forest. I believe this type are called cone roots. Their purpose is to enable the trees to exchange gases with their environment in oxygen-poor conditions, like the brackish coastal waters in which I spotted these.
