If looking for personal use for medicinal I would focus on wild edibles and learning what is already around you. If I was starting from scratch I would start with plantain, comfrey, mullien, creeping Charlie, nettle, yarrow, dandelion, thistle, cleavers. You can look up medicinal uses for each online.
