I use and develop apps for iOS, which is repulsively paternalistic, only because I was already using and developing apps for Mac, which is much less paternalistic (although unfortunately becoming more so over the years). I despise tech company paternalism. That’s not a selling point for me.

I also despise duopolies: iOS and Android, Mac and Windows, Democrats and Republicans, etc. I may choose the lesser of evils, but they all suck. I liked Apple a lot better as the underdog in the early 2000s.
