One of my all time favorite #SteveAlbini moments (there are a lot of noteworthy Albini moments) is the letter he wrote to Nirvana in 1992 about recording In Utero. It reads like a manifesto, an ethos of record making, and is worth reading every once in a while as a reminder of what a no-bullshit policy should look like. In closing: “If a record takes more than a week to make, somebody's fucking up.” (The typed original is floating around the internet, this Substack post is easier to read.)
