* The stuff that we love yet fails to be exported, we claim that not only is it the greatest, it’s an injustice it never succeeded outside Canada (ex: Tragically Hip)

* The stuff we love that’s successfully exported, we downplay its success outside Canada (ex: Cowboy Junkies)

The exception to this rule is Neil Young—we treat him as an undercover Canadian.
