I hate how one of the fedi stereotypes is "Oh, big US political event happened. guess i will get off fedi for today because everyone is going to post uncontent warned US politics". It's my promise that at least when I can help it my instances are not going to contribute to that and if they do i will punish the users responsible. you shouldn't feel like you have to leave the site because people can't behave and respect your boundaries
