You'll find yourself choosing who to keep or kick off, because two users hate each other and aren't going to silently leave. You'll find yourself dealing with people who will kick the beehive over and over and say WUT DID I DO WRONG BRO? You'll find yourself realizing that you can't trust people you think are cool online because they are either caught up in their own dating drama (and with online types it's always some Jerry Springer esque shit) or power trip or who just love to greet you with a smile and knife behind their back.

Thankfully unlike with chats you won't usually need to deal with someone sending you DMs with entire diary entities of why some user you have in a group is a bitch ass motherfucker. The exception is if you choose to openly federate with the blocklisting side.

What I mean is, let me tell you a story. A guy I know tried to dabble in this fedi stuff and he lost interest (turns out being into SL circa mid-2000s/early-2010s doesn't give you Internet Street Smarts in the 2020s). Anyhow, he wanted to federate with the blocklisting side and learned quickly what will happen: you will get interrogated in private messages about why you're doing shit like running Soapbox and not Genuine Mastodon Software or Akkoma, etc. Most of the time they will simply block you, but if they think they can sway you in an argument they will reach out to you to explain why you're making them feel some type of way and will make federating with them a hostage situation or privilege.
