60k in the USA (post tax) would get a small mortgage in a non-major or rural metropolitan. Likely couldn’t afford a mortgage at all in a major metropolitan area. Most likely with that salary the person would be a renter who is able to save away $1000 a month at most if frugal. A comfortable life but not much left over.
