For some reason while at the laundromat earlier today I was thinking about how Steve Jobs would buy a new car with such frequency he never needed to put on a license plate.

I guess this was some weird way to attempt to maintain a level of anonymity?

But when you are so rich you can apply such a technique, you aren't "hacking the system" you're being Batman, hiding yourself because you are so rich it is unhealthy. You have no superpowers, you perpetuate financial inequality because it benefits you personally even if it leaves others at a material disadvantage.

Even when I think back to the pre-Apple days.

It was Woz who built the blue boxes.

Don't be like Steve Jobs. He is absolutely not a person to aspire to nor emulate. At best, it could be said that at least he wasn't as bad as some other technocrat billionaires like Bill Gates? Steve Jobs had some sort of concept of taste and didn't rip others off wholesale, his company would typically license (e.g. the mouse from SRI) or buy out (e.g. Fingerworks for their gesture patents and SDK) innovators instead of plagiarize and defraud them (e.g. Micro$oft ripping off Gary Kildall's CP/M-86 beta via intermediary Tim Patterson's QDOS as MS-DOS or charging for a mediocre port of John G. Kemeny and Thomas E. Kurtz of Dartmouth's BASIC to the Altair or shipping the "compatible" Arial instead of licensing Helvetica from Linotype when Micro$oft of all companies can certainly afford to pay licensing fees).

But that is like, not a high bar to surpass.

If you see something flawed in the system and you have the money and power to influence others en masse and instead you just throw money at it to solve your personal problem instead of the systemic one, IMHO, you suck at leveraging your wealth and power and it shows.
