In real life #enshittification: when Home Depot opened nearby, all the other hardware stores went out of business, forcing everyone to go to HD even if all you need is a light bulb or a packet of screws. But now they don't restock the shelves consistently, and have few cashiers on duty. So you might go there & wander the aisles & if you find what you need, you have to wait on a long line to buy it.
