So how serious an impediment to the Green Transition is the planning process?
Well, of the approx. 4,000 applications submitted for wind, solar & battery projects between 2018-2023, 63% (!!) have been refused, abandoned, withdrawn, or had their planning permission expire.
After other obstructions (lack of funds etc.), only around 20% are actually on track to be built.
Certainly, not all the rest were excellent projects obstructed by planners, but you see the problem!
