***STRANDING UPDATE***
Golden Bay.
The whales have been cared for throughout the hot morning and a refloat was attempted this afternoon. Volunteers calmly guided the whales over numerous sandbars and out to deeper water. The whales responded well and were swimming strongly into deeper water and, while being monitored, shortly after were no longer visible from the beach! We're feeling hopeful this is good news.
