I thought I wasn't afraid of anything, until my doctor scheduled surgery for this Friday. I don't know if I'm afraid of not waking up from the anesthesia or of dying.

Looking back, I've done much more dangerous things, with real risk of death. So I believe that the true origin of this fear maybe is the lack of control over one's own mind. Being sedated and leaving your life in the hands of other people is difficult...
