As a person subject to ageism (ie... trying to get into the tech field in my 30's), then eventually building my own freelance career because no one would take me.
As someone who fights to keep my financial head above water month by month, skipping showers and lunch breaks frequently...
I find this idea of "a thriving economy" disgusting and laughable.
The country has never been in a worse place as it is now. The rest of the world is also very close.
Everyone from the middle class on down is rendered invisible as to the economic metrics.
There is no "Unity" in the states. Everyone is grasping and clawing for money and resources, sometimes throwing their friend or neighbor over the cliff to get it.
The source of this consternation does not come directly from people. It comes from those who lead the people, or those who control the resources that people need.
Always look up the ladder to discover the core of the problems plaguing this country.
