“Locked in” means I cannot withdraw the funds until I retire. I asked! The answer was “no”. 😅 I can only use the funds to trade within the brokerage that holds the account. I don’t make the rules. But thanks to bitcoin proxies like MSTR and ETFs, I can still accumulate capital in that account proportionally to bitcoin’s rise in value.
Same goes for tax advantaged accounts. I can use them to maximize the amount of sats I can buy, over time, by minimizing how much income tax I pay each year. It’s a substantial amount that I can get back, and use to buy real bitcoin, while the ETFs in those accounts accumulate value.
Unless you think your government will seize your accounts this year, you’re silly not to take advantage of what is offered. I think the system will continue to work for at least another few years.
