This feels like one of the main reasons to use Nostr. To give voice to the voiceless and document what is happening for posterity.
Why when I search do I see so little here on Nostr about Hurricane Helene?
I'm seeing tons of posts like this on twitter where they are blocking supplies and arresting the Americans trying to get aid in there. Maui again where they went weeks without power and only got $750 a family. No help from the government and the media is not showing any of the devastation. I can't believe what it looks like. Whole towns gone that will never be able to rebuild and the people have no supplies. No water or electric after 6 days. The only help has been from private citizens with helicopters and now they are closing the airspace so they won't have any relief. FEMA is blocking supplies like starlink to give them power or Internet.
So sad.
I know that my reposting on Nostr means no one sees my stuff because I have so few followers.
And,.what does that mean if it's not a Bitcoin post or fun meme with the most zaps? how do we encourage citizen journalists and save this info in a censorship resistant place? Nostr is so important for documentation. and we need to make info like this more visible.
