At schoolboy age and older (1950s and later) I heard phrases such as (polite version) "please leave now, and take your high hat with you"
Vulgar versions suggested where the high hat might be put
It was used in response to someone acting overly important, especially if they weren't.
Also common was a sarcastic, rhetorical, "well, aren't we* wearing our* high hat today!?"
*we, *our actually meant "you". It referred to a monarch customarilly referring to her/himself in the plural
