A sadly large proportion of the population stop bothering with reading and critical thinking once they leave school, and now those people ( largely put off by a bad, non inclusive teaching process) are engaging with online content alongside people who work to retain those skills post education.
So, perhaps we are also seeing better issues that were there all along, but couldn't be expressed.
