It took about the same amount of time. Now I write in a kind of two steps forward, one step back, constantly reviewing and editing what I've already written as I am also continuing forward. I don't think there is a "right" way for any kind of art. What I have been struggling with recently is that I set myself a really complicated task with book 3.
