What's depressing about today's technology is that we are simultaneously investing obscene amounts of money in stuff like adtech or LLMs or expensive consumer gadgets. All pretty superfluous in the grand scheme (imo).
And at the same time there's SO MUCH untapped potential. To simplify bureaucracy, to automate mundane, boring stuff, to replace a million things which are now done with spreadsheets. To make systems talk to each other and exchange data, rather than locking it all into silos.
And all of those things could be done by profitable businesses, just not businesses with the kind of ROI that VCs look for.
