In the World Happiness Report's data the UK ranked 32nd for under 30's but in the top 20 for the over 60s... the reporting (here) suggests this is all about the privileging of policies benefitting older voters.... the UK's gerontocracy in action.
But of course, our happiness ranking(s) are much more in line with our ranking for GDP-per person (around the mid-20s).... suggesting this is just a reflection of our declining relative economic success.
