But I don't think Trump's decision to keep documents and refuse to give them back is "pointless," at least as far as Trump is concerned.

It's like the ultimate litmus test: If you think he can do this, you agree he can do anything.

The test means that anyone who backs him at this stage agrees he can do anything.
