It's strange the way that Google has basically just given up on tablets almost entirely.
You can buy "Android" tablets that have nothing to do with Google services, just running a barebones version of Android from some knockoff manufacturer.
Meanwhile, if you want anything resembling a higher-end Android tablet with a ~7-8in screen, it doesn't exist. Apple is the only option.
The closest thing is the Samsung A7 which is so underpowered that it's downright embarrassing.
