I've had to change my #proofreading software.
In the course I took, it teaches you to use iAnnotate for the fastest service. But after a few years, it can get glitchy on you. Some proofreaders try other annotating programs.
I tried PDF Expert (for Macs) and learned, for me, it's crisp and I can proofread now on multiple devices (which is super helpful.) It's only missing a few bells and whistles that iAnnotate has, but it took less than a week of playing with it to find the work arounds.
Things are a bit faster with PDF Expert as I set up keyboard text replacements for most of the ones I use. This saves me several minutes over the course of the entire document, so I don't mind taking a few extra seconds at the end for the necessary workarounds.
In doing so, though, somehow, I nuked my emoji keyboard.
No more quick emojis for me, I guess. 😀
I could keep trying the troubleshooting steps iAnnotate offers in their help articles, but when working clients, I just need things to work. I can't always take the time to fix a software (or redo an entire pdf) when I have deliverables and deadlines and such.
