The days are getting shorter here in Alaska so Anchorage lights up the star so all may find their way. It has over 350 bulbs and isn't turned off until the last Iditarod musher finishes the race. It was built by the Army in 1958 and is lit in late November each year. It's now maintained by Joint Base Elemendorf-Richardson.
