This sort of reminds me of the origin story of MakerBot. Basically every engineer said "that won't work" but a couple of makers & hackers said "we're gonna try it anyway" and got desktop 3D printing to move forward with an actual product.
Sometimes it's what you *do* know that prevents you from doing something.
