Great excitement 127 years ago. In December 1896 Father Christmas arrived, his sleigh and reindeer mounted on an Ottawa Electric Railway streetcar decorated as a snow-covered cabin complete with chimney and festooned with garlands. Santa handed out more than 3000 oranges to the city's boys and girls.
