Some people like vendor lock in because it gives them a business approved way to have less options and not have to pay so much attention to potentially better or more cost effective ways of doing things. It relieves a suit who might not know what they're talking about in the field they manage from actually having to know something about the field that they manage and puts the burden on employees(+consultants) to work around incompatibilities between functional business requirements and vendor.
